The Trust
The Bedfordshire Music Trust is a registered charity, founded in 1999 to support the development of youth music opportunities in the County.
In 2011 the Trust took over running the Youth Music Courses, which were formerly run by the Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire Councils, and these successful courses are now expanding. We run weekend and holiday courses for students who already play an instrument or sing but who are looking to take part in high quality ensembles or groups. Our current groups include orchestras, wind and concert bands, string groups, chamber groups, a choir and a Youth Opera production. And we have plans to expand provision over the next few years.
Aside from our course provision we are a formal partner with the four local hubs: Music for Bedford Borough, Inspiring Music, Luton Music Service (The MIX) and MK Music Hub. We also maintain close links with the surrounding counties enabling us to offer complementary events and opportunities. In 2013 we entered into a partnership with the Philharmonia Orchestra to provide opportunities for students to experience professional orchestral playing.
The Bedfordshire Music Trust receives grants and donations towards activities which support youth music. The affairs of the Trust charity are overseen by a Board of trustees made up of the following members:
